Man Caught Trying to Steal Go-Kart in West St. Paul
WEST ST PAUL, MINNESOTA—A St. Paul man is facing charges after allegedly attempting to steal a go-kart from a resident’s front yard in West St. Paul, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County.
At approximately 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, an officer from the West St. Paul Police Department responded to a reported theft at a home. The homeowner told police he received a Ring camera alert showing someone outside his house. When he went to investigate, he found a man taking his go-kart from near his garage. According to the complaint, the homeowner confronted the suspect, who then abandoned the go-kart in the street and fled on a bicycle.
Police reviewed the Ring video and identified the suspect as 44-year-old Joshua Brian Daniels of St Paul, Minnesota. In a post-Miranda interview, Daniels admitted he had tried to steal the go-kart, according to the complaint.
Daniels has been charged with felony attempted theft of a motor vehicle in connection with the incident. He had his first court appearance on September 26, 2025, where a judge set his bond at $3,000 without conditions, or $0 with conditions, and he has since been released from Dakota County Jail. His next court appearance is set for December 9, 2025, at 1:30 PM in Hastings, Minnesota.
