Apple Valley Police Department Hosts Open House at New Operations Building; Fire Department to Host Upcoming Open Houses

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - On Tuesday, September 30, community members gathered for an open house at the Apple Valley Police Department’s new Police Operations Building, a state-of-the-art facility located at 14325 Flagstaff Avenue. The 25,000-square-foot building officially opened earlier this summer and now serves as the department’s central hub for daily operations, training, and community engagement.

The open house offered residents the chance to connect with local officers, explore the facility, and participate in family-friendly activities. Guided tours gave visitors an inside look at areas typically closed to the public, while a scavenger hunt kept younger attendees engaged throughout the event. Guests also enjoyed complimentary hot dogs and chips, adding a casual, welcoming touch to the afternoon.

Modernized Facilities

The new police headquarters was designed to improve efficiency, officer wellness, and public safety. Key features include:

  • Squad Garage – secure and weather-protected vehicle storage.

  • Training & Briefing Room – providing space for ongoing officer education and daily coordination.

  • Locker Rooms – updated facilities for staff use.

  • Office Areas – modernized workspaces for department operations.

  • Exercise & Wellness Facilities – dedicated space to support officer health and fitness.

Police officials emphasized that the event was not just about showcasing the new building, but also about building stronger relationships with the community they serve. The open house highlighted the department’s commitment to transparency and accessibility while giving residents a firsthand look at the resources now available to officers.

Upcoming Fire Department Open Houses

Community engagement continues into October, as the Apple Valley Fire Department prepares to host its own series of open houses in honor of Fire Prevention Week (October 5–11). Check out the upcoming open houses at the following dates and locations, listed below:

  • October 7 – Fire Station #1, located at 15000 Hayes Rd.

  • October 8 – Fire Station #2, located at 13995 Galaxie Ave.
