BCA Says Progress Made in Federal Agent Shooting Investigations Following Information-Sharing Agreement

TWIN CIITES: - The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) says it has made significant progress in three active investigations involving federal agents after reaching an agreement with federal authorities to share investigative information.
In a statement released Monday, July 13, BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said the agency has been working with federal law enforcement partners and the U.S. Attorney's Office since the incidents occurred. Evans said those long-standing relationships helped create a path toward an agreement allowing investigators to exchange pertinent information.
The investigations involve the shootings of Good, Pretti and Sosa-Celis. Authorities emphasized that all three cases remain active and ongoing.
Because of the ongoing investigations, Evans said the BCA cannot comment on specific evidence. However, he said "great strides" have been made in ensuring both state and federal authorities have access to the information needed to conduct thorough and complete reviews of the incidents.
Evans also noted that while the two incidents have received extraordinary public attention, the BCA has a long history of independently investigating law enforcement use-of-force incidents and collaborating with both state and federal agencies.
"The BCA is grateful to the Department of Justice, federal law enforcement partners and the Minneapolis U.S. Attorney's Office working collaboratively to ensure these are thorough and complete investigations of these incidents," Evans said.
The BCA did not provide a timeline for when the investigations may be completed or when additional information may be released.
