BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - Residents and the general public near Crystal Lake may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, boats, and first responders over the next two days, but officials say there is no cause for concern.
The activity is part of a planned, large-scale water rescue training exercise taking place on [Today] Wednesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 7. The training is designed to prepare emergency personnel for real-world scenarios as Minnesota heads into the busy spring and summer water recreation season.
Multiple agencies from across the south metro and beyond are participating in the coordinated effort. Those involved include Burnsville Fire, Bloomington Fire, Savage Fire, Shakopee Fire, Lakeville Fire, as well as the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say the training will focus on enhancing inter-agency coordination, improving response times, and sharpening lifesaving techniques used during water emergencies. These types of exercises are especially critical as warmer weather approaches and more people head to lakes and waterways across the region.
The training is being conducted with support from industry professionals, including Frontier Precision and SKS Solutions, who are providing specialized expertise and instruction throughout the exercises.
Authorities are asking the public to remain clear of training areas on the lake to allow crews to operate safely and effectively. While the presence of boats and emergency vehicles may appear significant, officials emphasize that the activity is entirely precautionary and part of ongoing preparedness efforts.
Community members are encouraged to stay aware but not alarmed, as crews work to ensure they are fully equipped to respond to emergencies on the water this season.
