17-Year-Old Arrested After Altercation at Knob Hill Park in Lakeville
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA—A 17-year-old male was taken into custody Sunday evening following a reported altercation at Knob Hill Park that may have involved a firearm, according to Lakeville Police.
According to the Lakeville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the park, located at 6000 178th Street, around 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, after receiving reports of a disturbance that possibly included a weapon. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the individuals involved as well as several independent witnesses.
This aligns with the tips we received from witnesses who saw this incident as well. According to one witness, an altercation occurred, possibly near the basketball court. People left the park, and the police were called. The vehicle involved in the incident reportedly returned to the scene, possibly not knowing the police were called, which was when officers boxed the vehicle in with their guns drawn. A separate witness sent us a photo of that moment, which you can see below. The individuals in the vehicle reportedly refused to exit at first, but eventually they were all taken out.
According to Lakeville Police, while no firearm was recovered at the scene, the investigation led officers to arrest a 17-year-old suspect. He was transported to the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Center and is being held on preliminary charges of Threats of Violence and 5th Degree Assault.
Authorities have not released the teen’s name due to his juvenile status. The investigation is ongoing. If additional details are released, we will provide an update.
