Second Alarm Structure Fire Heavily Damages Home in Lakeville
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA—A home in Lakeville was heavily damaged in a structure fire Monday afternoon, May 26, 2025, prompting a large emergency response and mutual aid.
Lakeville Fire and Lakeville Police were dispatched at noon to the 21000 block of Ivory Lane following reports of a fire, believed to have started in the garage before quickly spreading to the rest of the home. Crews arrived at the scene around 12:07 p.m. to find heavy fire coming from the garage that was extending into the home. Due to the severity of the fire, it was upgraded to a second alarm at approximately 12:17 p.m., bringing in additional support from the Farmington Fire Department and additional Lakeville Fire units. An offensive attack was initially being used on the fire, but according to scanner traffic, around 12:27 PM, fire personnel switched to a defensive attack.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, the homeowner was the only one in the home when the fire started. They reportedly evacuated safely and were not injured. Initial scanner traffic had reported that one person might have received superficial injuries in the incident. ALF Ambulance was on scene providing aid. According to neighbors, a family dog was initially reported missing but was later found safe.
Fire crews worked quickly to put out the blaze, but the extent of the damage to the home has not yet been fully assessed. Crews remained on scene at 3:15 PM, working on overhaul and hot spots. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the residents.
Officials continue to investigate the fire's cause, and updates will be provided as they become available.
