Dog Sledding Team Safe After Frightening Trailer Crash While Traveling to an Event in Excelsior

MINNETONKA, MINNESOTA — A local dog-sledding team is reportedly shaken but safe after their transport trailer split in half while they were en route to a holiday event in Excelsior on Saturday, November 29, 2025, with nine of their dogs. The Silent Run Adventures, LLC, a dog-sled business with more than 30 dogs, roughly half of them rescues or rehomed sled dogs, was traveling to the Christmas in Excelsior festivities when their trailer catastrophically failed on an overpass.
According to Silent Run Adventures owner Jack Christopher, the dog trailer “broke in two,” causing several box compartments inside the trailer to shift loose. Despite severe structural damage, the boxes holding most of the dogs remained intact, and none of the animals were seriously injured.
One dog, Rebel, escaped during the incident and was seen running loose on I-394, a dangerous situation in itself, made even more precarious by winter travel conditions and the crash location on an overpass. Thanks to quick action by first responders, Rebel was safely captured. The Minnesota State Patrol personally transported Rebel to reconnect with the Silent Run team later in Excelsior.
Christopher described the moment as terrifying, saying there is “nothing worse than scared huskies on the freeway.” He praised the Minnesota State Patrol and Minnetonka Police for their swift response and compassionate assistance.
Despite the trailer being completely totaled, Silent Run Adventures continued to their destination in Excelsior, a closer option than returning home, where a veterinarian was able to evaluate all dogs on arrival. In a post on Facebook the company said they were so happy their puppies were all reported to be okay.
In an update on Facebook following the accident, Silent Run Adventures expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support they received:
“We can’t thank you enough for the incredible outpouring of love and support after our accident on the winter roads yesterday. It was a terrifying experience, and while the dog trailer was completely totaled, we’re so grateful that everyone — two-legged and four-legged — are safe and sound. Right now, we're focusing on healing both physically and emotionally… Your kindness means the world to us.”
Many community members have asked how they can help the business recover from the loss of their trailer and other equipment. Silent Run Adventures reported that a supporter of theirs set up a GoFundMe for them, for those who wish to contribute. The team emphasized there is no obligation, but shared the link for anyone who wants to assist.
Silent Run Adventures says they are continuing to focus on the well-being of their dogs and staff as they regroup from the crash.
