Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms dropped 1 to 2 inches of rain across much of the Twin Cities metro on June 23, with isolated totals nearing 2 inches. Lightning strikes, downed tree limbs, and power line incidents were reported.

Severe thunderstorms swept across the Twin Cities metro on June 19, 2026, producing hail up to 2.25 inches, wind gusts nearing 60 mph, downed power lines, and more than 20,000 Xcel Energy customers without power. MnDOT cameras captured drivers stopping beneath highway overpasses as the storms moved through Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding communities.
