Twin Cities Crash Recap: DWI Arrest, Two-Vehicle Crash, a Chain-Reaction Collision, and Medical Emergency Are Under Investigation
TWIN CITIES, MINNESOTA—We are providing an update on four separate crashes we previously reported, which began last Thursday, June 19, 2025, and continued through yesterday, June 24, 2025. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the four crashes they responded to involved a DWI arrest in Burnsville, a two-vehicle crash in Savage, a multi-vehicle collision in Eagan, and a medical emergency that resulted in a vehicle being driven into a retention pond in Bloomington.
Burnsville Rollover Crash Leads to DWI Arrest
On Thursday, June 19, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Minnesota State Patrol troopers, along with the Burnsville Police and Burnsville Fire Department, responded to a single-vehicle rollover on eastbound Highway 13 near County Road 11 in Burnsville.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Hyundai Sonata lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over and came to rest blocking a lane of traffic. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Harshall Rudolph Stewart Martinez of Farmington, was not injured in the crash but was arrested and booked into the Dakota County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
The incident remains under investigation.
Semi-Truck vs Passenger Vehicle in Savage
On Friday, June 20th, at around 8:05 p.m., State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle blocking crash in the area of northbound Hwy 169 on the Bloomington Ferry Bridge near Savage.
The preliminary investigation shows that a Jaguar passenger car and a semi-truck collided while both vehicles were northbound on Hwy 169. The semi-truck also struck the concrete barrier on the shoulder. The lanes on the highway were temporarily blocked due to this crash. There were no reported injuries.
The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
Four-Vehicle Crash in Eagan Involving Semi
On Tuesday, June 24, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Troopers and MnHealth responded to a multi-vehicle collision on northbound I-35E near Lone Oak Road in Eagan.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a semi-truck struck a passenger vehicle, causing a chain-reaction crash that ultimately involved four vehicles. One person—the driver of the passenger car initially struck—reported possible injuries. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under review.
Vehicle Plunges into Pond in Bloomington
Later the same day, Tuesday, June 24, at approximately 12:35 p.m., a State Trooper responded to a crash near the intersection of I-494 and Highway 100 in Bloomington.
Investigators say a vehicle left the roadway, struck a sign, and entered a nearby retention pond. Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have suffered a medical episode before the crash. No further information about the driver’s condition has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
