MVTA Announces Fall Service Changes Beginning August 10, Including Route Merger, New School Service, and Burnsville Center Stop Relocation
Beginning August 10, MVTA Route 490 and Route 493 will be combined into a new Route 490, with additional trips to stop locations in Scott County. Provided by the MVTA.

DAKOTA & SCOTT COUNTY, MINNESOTA - Commuters across Dakota and Scott counties will see several changes to Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) bus service beginning Monday, August 10, as the agency rolls out its Fall 2026 Service Change. The updates include a major express route merger, expanded service to Inver Hills College and Burnsville High School, schedule adjustments, and a relocation of the Burnsville Center bus stop that will affect multiple routes.
Additional service changes for University of Minnesota routes are also scheduled to take effect on September 8, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.
Route 490 and Route 493 to Merge
The most significant change is the consolidation of Route 490 and Route 493 into a newly configured Route 490, following public feedback received during the planning process.
According to MVTA, the merger is designed to provide additional trip options for riders traveling between Scott County, Downtown Minneapolis, and the University of Minnesota.
Under the new configuration:
All Route 490 trips will serve Southbridge Crossings Park & Ride in Shakopee, Downtown Minneapolis, and the University of Minnesota.
The 490P route pattern will continue through Downtown Prior Lake and Eagle Creek Park & Ride in Shakopee.
The 490M route pattern will serve Marschall Road Transit Station in Shakopee.
Schedules throughout the route have been adjusted to improve overall reliability.
Route 445 Extended to Inver Hills College
MVTA is expanding Route 445, which currently operates between Cedar Grove Transit Station and the YMCA in Eagan.
Beginning August 10, weekday service will be extended to Inver Hills College, providing students and staff with improved transit access while creating additional connections to Metro Transit Routes 68 and 71.
Orange LINK Adds Burnsville High School Stop
Students and riders using Orange LINK will also see expanded service.
The route, which operates between Apple Valley Transit Station, Burnsville Transit Station, and Blackhawk Park & Ride in Eagan, will begin serving Burnsville High School.
The new stop (#30132) is located on Riverwood Drive near the school's tennis courts. MVTA says schedules have been adjusted to accommodate the additional stop.
Burnsville Center Bus Stop Relocating
A key change affecting multiple routes involves relocating the Burnsville Center bus stop.
Beginning August 10:
The Burnsville Center stop will move to the northwest side of Burnsville Center near Entrance 1.
Existing stop #31389 will permanently close.

Route 444
Route 447
Additional schedule or routing adjustments associated with the stop relocation will also affect Routes 420, 440, 446, 477, and 495.

Two lower-ridership westbound evening trips will be discontinued:
7:37 p.m.
8:37 p.m.
Route 440
Northbound routing is being modified to improve arrival times at the Mall of America.

82nd Street at Winstead Way Northwest Corner (#52007)

Burnsville Center stop relocated.

Burnhaven Drive at Burnsville Library &License Center (#31927)
Route 444
Changes include:
Burnsville Center stop relocation.
Removal of Burnhaven Drive at 143rd Street NW Corner (#31831).
Riders should instead use Burnhaven Drive at Burnsville Library & License Center (#31927).
Northbound routing changes near the Mall of America, eliminating service to:
Lindau Lane at 26th Avenue SW Corner (#41259)
82nd Street at Winstead Way NW Corner (#52007)
Route 446
Weekday trip times will shift by up to five minutes to maintain connections with Route 445 at Eagan Transit Station.
Route 447
The Burnsville Center stop will relocate to the northwest side of the shopping center near Entrance 1.
Route 477
Service enhancements include:
A new 3:47 p.m. southbound L Pattern trip operating Monday through Thursday to serve Lakeville Cedar Park & Ride.
Existing southbound departures will change:
3:40 p.m. becomes 3:37 p.m.
3:55 p.m. becomes 3:57 p.m.
Route 495
All trips on Route 495 will now begin or end at Mystic Lake Casino.
University of Minnesota Service Expands in September
A second round of service improvements will take effect on September 8, when MVTA adds trips to University of Minnesota Routes 465 and 475 to accommodate increased demand during the new school year.
Riders Encouraged to Review Updated Schedules
MVTA encourages riders to review their schedules before traveling, as several routes will experience changes to trip times, stop locations, or routing beginning August 10.
